Brad Miller – SS – Mariners
Miller was drafted in the second round out of Clemson in 2011 and he has spent the last three years moving up through the minor league system. With 867 career at bats in the minors Miller batted .334 with 27 home runs and 30 stolen bases. The lefty has played well at each step and in 2013 batted .356 with 6 home runs with 104 at bats in AAA Tacoma before his call up to Seattle.
Once up in the Bigs, Miller did slow down hitting just .265, but he still smacked 8 home runs, 6 triples and stole 5 bases with 306 at bats. He probably needs a couple years of facing big league pitching to see his true potential, but the Mariners are committed to giving him the shortstop spot and have put together a pretty good offense around him including, the signing of second basemen Robinson Cano.
His combination of hitting, good pop, and solid speed makes him an excellent candidate for a breakout shortstop in 2014.
