Fantasy Baseball Scout: Starting Pitcher Prospects

First Base Prospects

Matt LaPorta - Indians

He is playing solid ball and has the ability to get hot. He qualifies as a first basemen in several leagues. The 24-year-old was the Brewers 1st pick (7th overall) in 2007 and was acquired in the Sabathia trade. He batted .288 with 20 home runs with 306 at bats in AA Hunstville in 2008. He is a natural outfielder, but he qualifies as 1B in some leagues.

Mike Carp - Mariners

He got the call from AAA and is seeing some time at first base. He has potential to bat .280 and hit at a 20 home run pace if he plays enough.
