Age |
| Chris Davis - Texas
Rangers - He batted .287 and smashed 17 home runs
after his second half call-up. He was pretty much a .300,
30 home run hitting player in the minors and could reach
that within the next couple seasons as a big leaguer. |

Age |
| Nelson Cruz - Texas
Rangers - He had a monster year in AAA Oklahoma,
batting .342 with 37 home runs and 24 stolen bases and
kept going when he got the late call to Texas and batted
.330 with 7 home runs and 3 stolen bases. |
OF |
28 |
| Lastings Milledge - Washington
Nationals - He will be just turning 24 and has
a good mix of speed and power the roto managers love.
He batted .268 with 14 home runs and 24 stolen bases.
Finally, he played well in the second half, batting .299.
He has 20-40 potential, but be happy with 15-30 and a
.285 average. |
OF |
24 |
| Adam Jones - Baltimore
Orioles - He had solid debut in Baltimore batting
.270 with 9 home runs, 7 triples, 21 doubles and 10 stolen
bases with 477 at bats. The big prospect acquired in the
Eric Bedard trade has plenty of up side and could get
close to the 20-20 mark. |
OF |
23 |
| Chase Headley - San
Diego Padres - The big prospect was so-so after
his mid-season call-up batting .269 with 9 home runs and
104 strikeouts. He batted .305 with 14 home runs at AAA
Portland before the call-up and is a lifetime .301 minor
league hitter. At age 24 he has tons of upside and .290,
30 home run potential |
OF |
24 |
| Denard Span - Minnesota
Twins - The Twins 2002 #1 pick batted .294 with
6 home runs, 16 doubles, 7 triples and 18 stolen bases
with 347 at bats as a rookie. He could be a great late
draft pick up, especially in leagues in which you get
points for doubles and triples. |
OF |
24 |
| Carlos González - Colorado
Rockies - He was acquired in the Matt Holiday trade
after putting up a .242 average, 4 home runs and 4 stolen
bases, but hit as many as 21 home runs in the minors.
Starting centerfield for the Rockies would give him 15-20
stolen base and home run potential. |

Age |
| Clayton Kershaw - Los
Angeles Dodgers - The 6-3 lefty will just turn
21 before the season starts so he has a world of upside,
but quite a bit of risk with it. He went 5-5 with a 4.26
ERA and 100 strikeouts in 107.2 innings as a rookie. |
SP |
20 |
| Mike Pelfrey -
NY Mets - The 6-7 lefty took a big step in 2008
by going 13-11 with a 3.70 ERA. He is not a strikeout
pitcher (4.95 k-ratio), but should be good for 15 wins
pitching for the winning NY Mets. |
SP |
25 |
| Brandon Morrow - Seattle
Mariners - He did a good job in the closing role,
but the prospect is a starter and Seattle will likely
move him back into the rotation. He gas gone 6-8 with
10 saves, a 3.72 ERA and a 9.91 k-ratio in his young career. |
RP/SP |
24 |
| Yovani Gallardo - Milwaukee
Brewers - The big-time prospect was brought up
to the Big's and pitched very well going 9-5 with a 3.67
ERA and 101 strikeouts in 110.1 innings in 2007 as a rookie
then was looking good in '08 before he went down with
an knee injury. If healthy Gallardo is one of the top
pitching prospects in fantasy baseball. |
SP |
23 |
| Matt Garza -
Tampa Bay Rays - The 2006 USA Today Minor League
Player of the Year went 11-9 with a 3.70 ERA for the World
Champion Rays in his first season. He has a very average
6.25 k-ratio, but at 25 Garza has a ton of upside and
should be good for 15 wins. |
SP |
25 |
| Max Scherzer -
Arizona Diamondbacks - He was 0-4 as a rookie,
but he did post a 3.05 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 56 innings
in 2008. He was 8-5 with a 2.83 ERA and 210 strikeouts
in 159.2 innings in his 2 years in the minors. |
