Street Named Closer...Again

Manager Clint Hurdle confirmed that Huston Street will once again serve as Colorado's closer. This marks the second time in a month that Colorado Rockies has changed closers. Street opened the season with the job, but quickly lost it to Manuel Corpas. For his part, Corpas struggled in the closer's role, posting an 0-2 record with 2 strikeouts in 5 innings pitched. During that time, Street pitched fairly well, earning 1 save and 1 hold to go along with 8 strikeouts in 6.7 innings. Still, Corpas lost the job without pitching in a save situation. Street will see most of the save chances for now, but hang on to Corpas, as this should continue to be a fluid situation. Scout C.P. Staley

Rockies Closer in Flux

Reportedly Colorado Rockies manager Clint Hurdle will 'reassess' who will be the closer for the Rockies. Huston Street is presently holding the job but has not impressed anyone (2.2 Innings, 4 Runs, 1 Walk, 2 Ks, 1 Loss, 1 Save, 13.5 ERA). Corpas, however, has been good so far (4.1 Innings, 2 Runs, 3 Ks, 4.15 ERA). Street won the closer battle in pre-season, but Corpas looks to be winning it now - when it counts. Probably want to pick him up and see what happens. -Scout Monkey
