I’m not sure anyone is having a better spring the KC’s Lorenzo Cain. KC seems to have another young star.
Through 14 games (32 ABs) Cain is batting .500. Add to that, he has hit a couple of HRs, 7 doubles, and swiped a bag. He is shaping up to be an outstanding CF.
Cain is a guy that had a great average in the minors (.312 last year) with some pop (12 HRs) and some speed (16 SB). In addition to the excellent batting numbers, he is also a terrific fielder. All this put together is the reason he will be the starting CF for KC.
Really, only one question remains – where will he hit in the lineup? In spring he has been toggled between batting 2nd and 7th. Obviously batting 2nd would help his value (Butler, Hosmer, Gordan hitting behind him). If he continues his good contact and decent power, he should be perfect as a #2 hitter.
I’m high on Cain (and KC this year). He’s available in a ton of leagues, but will not be by mid-season. Except for the shallowest of leagues, he should be owned.
